POLICE deny reports that two homes only 50m apart were burgled on the same night.
Neighbours on Waldegrave, Basildon, reported that two homes were burgled last night, but Essex Police have quashed the rumours.
One woman, 76, told the Echo that she saw lots of police and commotion outside at around 11.30pm.
She also stated that one house had sustained damage to their window.
However police have denied that the properties were burgled. A spokesman said: "We were called to Waldegrave, Basildon at around 10.15pm following reports that an alarm was going off within a property.
"Officers attended but no there was no signs of forced entry or any disturbance within the property."
