The Pershore Plum Mile is back and residents are being urged to get set and go running to raise funds for Sport Relief.

Co-hosted by Wychavon District Council and Pershore Plum Plodders, the fourth Sport Relief Mile event will take place at Pershore’s Abbey Park on Sunday 15 March.

Participants can enter on the day and registration is from 9.30 until 10.30am. The run, which will begin at 11.15am, will be in the Abbey Park grounds.

It will follow a route past the Abbey, before winding its way amongst lovely mature trees and the magical tree carving sculptures in the park.

Before the milers set off there will be a warm up at the band stand area in the park. Everyone will then assemble at the start line and begin their choice of one or three miles.

Selina Phelps, of Pershore Plum Plodders, said: “Our Sport Relief Mile is open to people of all ages and is all about them getting active and having a laugh with friends and family. Hopefully the wind and the rain will have stopped come 15 March and runners will have a ‘Spring’ in their step and need sunglasses rather than brollies on the day.”

Mark Williams, sports development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “All the money raised will go to Sport Relief to help change the lives of people living unimaginably tough lives right here on our doorstep, across the rest of the UK and in some the world’s poorest countries. So motivate your mates, fire up your family and challenge your colleagues at work to run, walk or even hop our Pershore Plum Mile.”
