A WOMAN suffered a potentially serious injury after she fell in a brook in Ross-on-Wye, the emergency services have said.

The fire service and paramedics were called to the brook behind the Halo Leisure Centre in the town, off Kyrle Street, on Wednesday evening where firefighters had pulled the woman from the water.

She was then taken to hospital for further checks.

"An ambulance and paramedic officer attended the scene and arrived to find a woman who had been pulled out of a brook," West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

"The woman was given an assessment by ambulance staff who found she had sustained a potentially serious injury and required further checks at hospital. Ambulance staff conveyed her to Hereford County Hospital for further checks.

The fire service was called Kyrle Street shortly after 6.30pm.

"Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Ross Fire Station and their Water First Responder crew were called to an incident in Kyrle Street, Ross-on-Wye at 6.39pm on May 20.

"A female casualty who had fallen into a brook was rescued by crews and handed over to ambulance staff who were also in attendance. The incident was closed at 7.41pm."
