NINE weeks after first being held, the clap for our carers campaign is still going strong in Herefordshire with people across the county taking part.

From firefighters to school children and their parents, the weekly gesture of thanks to NHS, social care and other key workers was started as a way of the general public showing their appreciation.

In Hereford, Hunderton Avenue andย Hawthorn Grove were just two streets to take part in this week's event.

Firefighters in Bromyard have regularly lined up outside the station in New Road to join in. This week they draped a banner along the side of one of the fire appliances.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson also took part once again, as he stood outside 10 Downing Street.

Leader of the Labour Party Kier Starmer also tweeted about the campaign, which takes places every Thursday at 8pm.

He said: "Key workers, NHS staff and care workers have kept our country going when weโ€™ve needed them most.

"Itโ€™s right we clap for them every Thursday but when we emerge from this crisis we owe them a better society where they are truly valued."
