BUSES will be busier next week, and there is new guidance on how to use them.
Brighton and Hove Buses said that from Monday, it will be operating 80 per cent of its standard services as more people begin returning to work.
The company is asking travellers to take a face covering and wash their hands before travelling.
There will be deep cleans, staff wearing personal protective equipment, signs encouraging social distancing and extra cleaning en route.
The company asks that people only use the bus for essential journeys, and not to travel if they feel unwell or have Coivid-19 symptoms.
It advises avoiding peak times if possible and being prepared to wait if a bus shows a full sign even if it appears to have space.
The company is encouraging people to pay contactless or use the exact cash – drivers are not providing change and will have plastic bags for people to drop cash into to minimise contact.
The company advises sitting two metres apart and making use of the upper deck. The firm said travellers should not queue in the aisle or next to the driver.
It recommends open windows to help with ventilation and washing hands once the journey is over.
Older Person’s and Disabled Person’s passes are being accepted for travel 24 hours a day.
