AN ANNUAL event attracting hundreds of fundraisers has been postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Malvern Hills Challenge last year raised more than £13,000 for Help for Heroes, with 350 walkers and 100 dogs taking to the hills.

But event organisers have now taken the decision not to hold the event this year due to the unprecedented situation.

Spokesperson Caroline Buchanan said: "It is with great regret we have decided that, given the current situation with the COVID 19 virus and the consequent safety restrictions, we will have to postpone the Malvern Hills Challenge until September 2021.

"We cannot guarantee that we can achieve the quality of event that you have come to expect and the implications for so many aspects are too uncertain. However, we plan to bounce back next year as big and bright as ever.

"Those of you who have already registered for the event will be contacted separately and asked about what you wish done with your registration fees.

"Check our website and social media for further news and we look forward to seeing you all back again in 2021 for the 10th Malvern Hills Challenge."
