LANDLORDS in Ledbury say they are ready as pubs reopen this weekend.

They have asked customers to book ahead and say they have made preparations to ensure that social distancing is possible. One of the pubs reopening on Saturday is The Horseshoe Inn in The Homend.

Amanda Nicholl, the owner, said: “It’s essential we are open again - we have all the measures in place to keep staff and customers safe. It will be dining only, and I recommend booking ahead so as not to be disappointed - we can’t wait to be open again and thanks to all my staff for their hard work.”

The Retreat, in the High Street, posted on Facebook: “We will have a one-way system set up ready for you and a host to answer any of your questions.”

The Feathers Hotel, also in the High Street, posted on Facebook: “From our reopening on Saturday, we’ll be serving a new, reduced menu in our bar and restaurant.” It’s still packed with your classic favourites, our chef’s seasonal mains and some delicious desserts -what are you going to try first?”

While the Severn Stars, in The Homend, posted on Facebook: We are super excited to be opening - our team have been working hard to create a safe environment for you. Our booking system is now open so that you can reserve a table for our opening weekend.”

The Farmers Arms posted on Facebook: “ Please book a table before arriving for food and/or drinks. Max 6 per table reservation.”

Mayor of Ledbury, Daniel Vesma, said: “I’m sure I speak for many citizens in welcoming the pubs back to the town centre. These venues contribute enormously to the character and vibrancy of Ledbury, and I wish the staff and proprietors the very best of luck with the reopening.”

“As a community we should be grateful for their patience and stoicism of our local traders, who have been forced to close their doors to help keep us all safe.”

Caroline Green, chair of the Ledbury Traders Association, said: “It’s great for the local economy for pubs to return."

“We need the pubs back open and customers to return.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that pubs, bars, and restaurants can reopen from Saturday, July 4.

All of the venues will have to put safety measures in place to ensure social distancing can be maintained.
