THE state of GP surgeries in Ledbury according to patients has been revealed as part of an annual NHS survey.

The figures come from the NHS’s annual GP Patient Survey which reveals how Ledbury’s doctors’ surgeries were rated between January and March – just weeks before the town went into lockdown because of the coronavirus.

Residents were asked for their opinion on a variety of elements with practices, from booking appointments, waiting times, out-of-hours services and the quality of care given.

Around 92 per cent of respondents to the survey said they had a 'good' or 'very good' experience at Ledbury Market Surgery with patient confidence and trust in doctors also scoring highly.

The results of the survey also showed 78 per cent of patients said they had a 'good' experience at St Katherines Surgery.

Fewer patients said they had the same experience at St Katherines Surgery with 71 per cent saying it was easy to contact the surgery on the phone but 89 per cent said receptionists were helpful.

Confidence and trust in doctors remained high at both surgeries with the survey showing 96 per cent had positive things to say about GPs at Ledbury Market Surgery compared to 97 per cent at St Katherines Surgery.

However, respondents to the survey said their experience booking an appointment at St Katherines Surgery was not particularly good with just over half saying it was 'good' and around a quarter saying it was 'poor' or 'very poor'.
