The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Herefordshire risen by two over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 890 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Thursday (August 6) in Herefordshire.

That's up from 888 the same time on Wednesday, when two new cases were also confirmed.

Since Saturday, 13 new cases have been found in the county, but it's not clear if all are linked to AS Green and Co in Mathon.

Health officials confirmed yesterday (Wednesday) there had been eight new cases at the vegetable farm near Ledbury.

The daily update from PHE does not narrow cases down to a more specific location than by local authority. It means unlike counties such as Gloucestershire, which have upper and lower tier local authorities, the cases for Herefordshire cannot be seen at a more local level.

CORONAVIRUS LATEST:

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.

The rate of infection in Herefordshire now stands at 462 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 472.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 950 over the period, to 308,134.

Herefordshire's cases were among the 27,537 recorded across the West Midlands, a figure which rose by 87 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
