Who are you? Laura Baber
When did you open and why? We opened in June2014, to make a difference to the lives of older people. Following many years in the construction industry, Laura decided it was time for a change and wanted to do something more rewarding with an organisation who shared the same values.
Tell us about your business? We are a local home care organisation, providing a tailored service to seniors in the Wyre Forest. We offer to all of our clients; visits no less than 60 minutes introductions to their CAREGiver team, no uniform, personal visits, we match CAREGivers to our clients, and offer companionship led care. Everything to us is personal.
How did you decide on the name? We trade as Home Instead Senior Care; this name comes from the fact that our clients prefer to stay home instead of being anywhere else.
Who works there? We have a team of 40 made up of; director, registered care manger, administrator, care coordinator, recruitment & development coordinator, care quality liaison, senior CAREGivers, CAREGivers.
Who are your customers? Individuals who want to stay at home, but require some support to maintain their independence.
What is your most memorable / proudest moment in business? It’s always a proud moment when one of our client’s relatives; tells us how much they appreciate the care given to their loved one and how much it has changed their lives.
What are your ambitions for the future? To support as many individuals as we can in our local community , to enable them to stay at home instead. As well as giving employment of a rewarding role to the local community.
Anything else? We are involved in a large number of organisations in the community; Melissa our community coordinator volunteers at Dementia Cafes as well as being on the board of Kidderminster Dementia Action Alliance. She enjoys being able to help people in the wider community and volunteering her time. Melissa also offers Dementia Friends information sessions for local businesses and we would love more of the community to become Dementia Friends and understand more about dementia and how it affects people.
