A GOBOWEN woman has been reunited with one of her three stolen dogs after police found her last week.

It was an emotional reunion for Keri Arbel and her long-haired dachshund, Nancy, who was stolen at the end of July.

Police found Nancy tied to a shed more than 35 miles from her home in Gobowen.

Though her long hair had been cut short, police were able to identify Nancy by looking at her collar.

Keri was overwhelmed as she held her dog again, and insists it has given her hope of finding the remaining two dogs, Emily-Rose and Greta.

She said: “It was a real shock when I received a phone call saying Nancy had been found – I thought she would have been the last one to be found because she is so rare.

“She is so happy to be home and hasn’t stopped running around.

“It was the most amazing reunion, I just couldn’t believe she had been found.

“My life has changed so much this past week – my husband took me out on Saturday afternoon and encouraged me to have a break for an hour, because I’ve constantly been on the phone trying to find any information.

“It was then I had a message telling me a dog had been found of the same description as Nancy.

“I was in complete shock. After an hour of messaging and describing what Nancy was like, her personality and what collar she wore, we were told we could come and get her.

“It was the longest hour of my life, but after that we couldn’t get there quick enough. The police were all lovely and they all adored Nancy.

“I remember holding her again and everyone was in floods of tears.

“Before leaving, some really big strapping policemen came in and asked if they could say bye to Nancy and had a cuddle with her. It was so overwhelming.”

Nancy’s return has boosted Keri’s hopes of finding her other two stolen dogs, and says she will not give up fighting for them.

“It is a feeling of relief,” she said. “But also, it gives us hope that it is possible to locate Greta and Emily-Rose.

“I think Emily-Rose will be the last to show as she was heavily pregnant at the time, so probably has a litter of puppies by now.

“As for Greta, she blends in with the crowd unfortunately like a lot of black and tanned Dachshunds.

“It’s almost like looking for a needle in a haystack.

“We are having banners put up in the area at busy areas, and I’m only every single social media group you can think of.

“I won’t give up fighting for my girls – I will find them. It has made me more determined after having Nancy return.

“I have been so sad this week that I’ve had no energy to even eat, but this has made me realise I have got to be strong and positive.”

She was also keen to praise the police officers who helped to bring Nancy home.

Keri said: “The police were amazing and were among some of the most lovely and caring people I have ever met.

“The love they showed Nancy was unbelievable.

“The police officers who helped to find her have been in touch so many times since, asking if she is ok – she really touched their hearts.”

Police are still appealing for information regarding the remaining two stolen dogs.
