TORRENTIAL downpours led to flooding in parts of the Black Country last night, as the extreme weather continued for another evening.

Heavy rain and even hailstorms were reported in parts of the Black Country following a day of sweltering heat.

Roads were submerged in some areas as the rain caused localised flooding.

Roads in Colley Gate were deluged, causing disruption for drivers, as seen in the video below.

Lightning also lit up the skies for the second night running this week.

The Met Office is forecasting some heavy thunderstorms in the West Midlands during this afternoon, though many, especially northern parts remain dry.

It is still expected to be warm, despite temperatures being a touch down on recently, with a maximum temperature of 26 °C.

Tonight the Met Office says thunderstorms will push away into Wales during the evening, leaving behind some bright spells. Cloud will gradually thicken overnight but will remain dry.

Expect another humid feeling night, with a minimum temperature of 15 °C.

Meanwhile a yellow weather warning for thunder storms remains in place, running until Monday, August 17.
