A TEENAGER feared drowned in a Stourport quarry has been named as Haider Ali.
National press have named the 17-year-old, understood to be from Birmingham, and quoted his relatives as calling him the "life and soul" of their family.
Earlier, we reported that police were called to Shavers End Quarry near Stourport, which is known locally as the Blue Lagoon, at around 4.45pm on Wednesday, August 12 to reports a boy in the water.
Ambulance and fire service crews conducted a search for the 17-year-old, but stood down at 7.27pm after they were unable to find him.
Searches with divers have resumed today and a cordon remains in place at the site to allow emergency services to continue their work.
Detective Inspector Justin Taylor said: “We’re supporting the boy’s family as our searches of the lake continue."
