A POPULAR pub is on the market in Hereford's independent quarter.
Offered on a leasehold basis, the Lichfield Vaults in Church Street is a traditional pub tucked away in a bustling, city centre location near the cathedral.
The pub currently serves up a Greek inspired menu alongside ales, ciders and more in its spacious, historic building and outside in the beer garden to the rear of the building.
With documented history dating back to the 1700s, the Lich, as it is fondly known by regulars, was formerly known as the Dog Inn, becoming the Lichfield Vaults some time between 1876 and 1885.

In The Pubs of Hereford City by Ron Shoesmith and John Eisel (Logaston, 2004), it is speculated that this was likely due to a change of lessee, as when alterations were proposed in 1914, the proprietors were given as the Lichfield Brewery Co. Ltd.
With a current annual turnover of £310,740, the business is offered on a leasehold basis for £127,500, the terms of which also include a two bedroom flat above the premises.
Marketing agents Intelligent Business Transfer Ltd said the flat offers a potential rental income of around £800 per month and could either be used as an additional source of income – or as easily accessed living accommodation for a new owner.
