AS part of the 400th anniversary of the voyage of the ship Mayflower Droitwich residents have celebrated the town’s connections to it by unveiling a special made quarter size model.

Pilgrim Father Edward Winslow, who was born in the town and baptised in St Peters church, was one of the first pilgrims to America who sailed on the ship in 1620.

To mark the anniversary Droitwich historian Alan Davey came up with the idea to build the ghost ship model that is now on display on a site overlooking the Netherwich Basin Marina in Vines Park.

Mr Davey said: “The public are not allowed to enter the land around the ghost ship, but you can see it from the river or the towpath.”

Mr Davey added it will be on display for the rest of the year.
