LIVE: Lye Town v Worcester City

Our live feed has now finished.

  • FT: Lye 4 (Tye 10, Prince 26, 80, Colley 37 - Brown sent off 86) City 1 (Brain 74 - Adaggio sent off 75)
  • CITY paid the price for a litany of errors as Lye Town revelled in the eye of Storm Alex.
  • The visitors struggled to adapt to the conditions and looked brittle as soon as the opener went in.
  • As well as bagging four goals, Lye hit the woodwork twice and failed to score from a double one-on-one at the death.
  • And even when Sean Brain’s provided a lifeline by making it 3-1 with 15 minutes to go, hope was immediately dented when Marco Adaggio got his marching orders for pushing ex-City colleague Jordan Harrison in the face after Adaggio had tried to get the ball to quickly restart play.
  • Lye led in the 10th minute when Harrison held up on the left of the box and despite being edged away from goal by Nat Kelly managed to squeeze back to the free Sam Tye who fired in from 10 yards.
  • City looked okay with the ball but shaky without it and frequently got hassled into errors when attacked, Harvey Cartwright walloping the crossbar from 20 yards before getting to the rebound first to force a good low save from Ewan Mountjoy.
  • Tye was then left free to glance his header just off target from the corner, while Lye continued to break up play by fair means or foul whenever City attempted to push forward.
  • Craig Jones had a near-post flick hacked off the line but it would be a set piece at the other end that would prove City’s undoing again, a messy scramble ending with an easy far-post finish for Sam Prince.
  • Jamie Smith hit the bar with a swirling free-kick and Aaron Roberts could not quite adjust to find the open net from point-blank range on the rebound and City paid the price once more.
  • Full-back Joe Colley’s low driven centre came in and while George Taylor ran towards it, taking Kelly with him, he left it to trickle past a deceived Mountjoy.
  • Changes at half-time and shortly afterwards saw City improve but matters could have got worse when Prince drifted inside Smith all too easily and smacked the inside of the post.
  • City gained plenty of territory, though, and Marco Adaggio was a fraction away from nudging a Luke English flick-on into the net.
  • The breakthrough came when Adaggio’s near-post touch came back out to Brain to fire in high across goal only for Adaggio to tangle with Harrison and receive his marching orders before the game restarted.
  • Lye broke to seal the deal with 10 minutes to go, Oliver Buchanan jetting down the left and while his cross evaded Prince, Harrison lifted back in for Prince to score with an unchallenged diving header.
  • City kept going and it was 10 against 10 when Tyreace Brown picked up a second yellow card for chopping down Brain with four minutes left.
  • Harrison was prevented from rubbing salt into the wound one-on-one by Mountjoy with Jordan Davies lifting the rebound wide of the open net in added time.
