WHAT has perhaps been Ledbury in Bloom's most challenging season to date, because of the Covid crisis, will close with an online AGM next month.
But Ledbury in Bloom chairman, Clive Gunn, has vowed that the 2021 campaign "is most definitely on, with a vengeance", and he promised "exciting news" in the next few weeks.
The date of the online AGM is still to be announced; but the plan is for all the documents to be posted online soon, for the benefit of the public.
The Ledbury in Bloom team did hope for another Heart of England in Bloom gold medal this year, to make it 14 in a row, but that did not happen because of the pandemic.
But socially-distanced tidy-ups have still be taking place, involving a handful of helpers at a time; and despite Covid, the team has even managed to slightly increase its numbers.
Mr Gunn said: "Yes, there has been socially-distanced weeding and planting, with people doing a bit here and a bit there, where it looked like it was needed.
"This has been a year of taking stock."
But if all goes to plan, Ledbury in Bloom will indeed be chasing another prestigious gold medal next year; but Mr Gunn says that is partly missing the point.
He said: "I want to hang on as chairman, and we won't let the campaign go, because it is too important for Ledbury.
"But for me, personally, as long as Ledbury is looking lovely, then that is the bottom line."
He praised the town council for the fine quality of the hanging baskets this year, displays which are only now in the process of being taken down, ahead of the winter.
