The final phase of the Pickersleigh Grove housing development in Malvern has been completed.

One of the town’s biggest housing expansions in recent years, the site provides 90 new homes - a mixture of affordable housing, shared ownership, rental properties and homes for sale.

Local contractor Speller Metcalfe was originally appointed by Fortis Living (who has since merged with Waterloo Housing Group to form Platform Housing Group), and was responsible for construction of the homes, which were delivered across six phases.

“Situated against the backdrop of the Malvern Hills and less than a mile from both Speller Metcalfe and Platform Housing Group’s offices, this has been a truly local scheme for the project team,” said Mark Eaton, Living manager at Speller Metcalfe.

“Most importantly this means we have been able to employ local contractors from Malvern and the surrounding areas, which has been particularly significant following the challenge we have all experienced over the last few months.”

He added: “We’re delighted to now be able to hand over the final set of keys and to see the properties filling up with local residents.”

The scheme replaces 42 post-war homes that were demolished in 2016 as they were no longer considered to be fit for occupation.

As well as the new properties, a new children’s play area was created using re-purposed timber from trees felled on site.

Simon Vick, Development Director (West) at Platform Housing Group, said: "The completion of this scheme comes at a time when affordable housing is needed more than ever. These high quality and sustainable homes not only meet the needs of local people but will enhance the environment for the whole community."
