THE new national Covid lockdown is making its impact felt with planned community events across the UK, as Wellington Heath near Ledbury is discovering.

The village’s well-used Memorial Hall will be shut for the duration of the lockdown, which means a planned Remembrance Service there has been cancelled.

Christ Church, the village church, will stay open for private prayers from 8am to 8pm each day, but no actual church services will take place there until December 6, at the earliest..

Looking ahead, there is a plan to hold a festive service in the village on December 20, and also there should be a Midnight Communion service on December 24, and a Christmas Day family service.

But these plans do remain subject to change, because of the ongoing uncertainty caused by the Covid crisis.

Village pub, The Farmers Arms, will offer a take-away service for the duration
