LEDBURY'S Ring and Ride service plans to keep going during the latest lockdown, by offering "transport for health care and essential food shopping" for those who need it.

Tim Barnes, general manager for Community Action Ledbury, which runs the service, said it has already been "a bit of a rollercoaster ride" this year, because of the ongoing Covid crisis.

But he said: "However, we were kept busy doing prescription collections and providing a shopping service for people isolating. We had an amazing influx of volunteers to help us do this - mostly people who were furloughed - it was a very impressive response from the town.

"Having said that, there has been a noticeable slowdown in activity in just the last week, which I think is a reflection of all the recent bad news. Overall, I think that Ledbury and Herefordshire's response to the crisis was outstanding. The voluntary effort in Ledbury was absolutely brilliant - lots of groups and individuals working together."___________________
