A HEREFORD secondary school has confirmed another coronavirus case, with a number of pupils sent home to self-isolate.

The Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School said a staff member has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a letter to parents, headteacher at te Hampton Dene Road school Martin Henton said: "We have been made aware of a staff member of our school community who have tested positive for Covid-19.

"We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England."

Mr Henton added: "This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child.

"Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (Covid-19) will be a mild illness."


"The very small number individuals, who have been in close contact with the person who has tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have received a letter informing them that they must stay at home for 14 days.

"The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well."

It is believed to be the fourth positive case at the school since September.
