A WOMAN has reached her wits’ end as she feels her complaints about a pavement that frequently floods are not being listened to by the council.

Veronica Thomas uses the path from the Tump Inn in Wormelow to the post office to walk her dog, Tommy, but cannot get along it after heavy rain causes flooding.

She blames Herefordshire Council for not fixing drains in the area, which she says are ineffective in wet weather.

Having lived in the nearby Tump Lane all her life, Miss Thomas moved to the village in 2016 and quickly reported the issue to the council. But four years on, nothing has been done.

“The drain that’s on the road is open and it is level with the path, and when it rains the water from that drain runs all down the middle of the path,” Miss Thomas, who lives in Queens Close, said.

“With my dog you can’t walk up it, he’s has short legs. It’s awful.”

She said: “When I take the dog for a walk, I have to go up there.”

Miss Thomas said the problem has been there for more than four years, but she only found out about it when she moved to the village centre.

Herefordshire Council did not say why it had not responded to the complaints about the path on the A466 by Miss Thomas.

A spokesperson did, though, say: “The road is inspected monthly, and no issues have been identified. An enquiry has been raised for the locality steward to make an inspection at this location.”
