Staff at a care home in Ledbury were so determined to give their residents a wonderful Christmas this year, despite the on-going pandemic, that a group of carers got together and acted out their own festive play.

The team at Ledbury Nursing Home joined forces to take part in ‘Someone is Coming to our House’, a play by author Gail Peterson which retells the story of the baby Jesus – with a number of well-known songs thrown in for good measure.

Hayley Attwood, service manager at the Shaw healthcare home, said: "We all know that pantomimes and shows play a big part in the festive season and staff at Ledbury Nursing home made sure that the residents did not miss out this year.

“Under the current restrictions we are unable to have professional entertainers come into the home, so we did what we had to do and everyone loved it. We chose this particular play as it has lots of audience participation and our residents love to get involved."

She added: “This is just another example of what an amazing team we have at Ledbury Nursing Home. This year has been difficult for everyone but we want to ensure our residents continue to have a good time, while staying safe.”

Home resident, Gordon Watkins, who turned 99 this year, was one of the first to congratulate the team for the performance, saying how he “hadn’t laughed so much in a very long time.”
