As if choosing a Christmas tree at Coddington wasn’t excitement enough, children visiting the plantation this year were also invited to guess the name of a mega sized teddy bear - and all in aid of raising funds for Save the Children Fund.

Colin Palmer, owner of Coddington Christmas Trees said: "Rather sadly the bear in question was an orphan who had lost his parents, only to be rescued by local gardener Sheryl Veldboer.

"Sheryl very kindly presented the bear to Coddington Christmas Trees to supplement the usual charitable sale of conifer foliage and mistletoe."

This year’s proceeds from all three sources, plus a donation per tree from the business, totalled £429.53, bringing the grand total forwarded from the farm to the Malvern group of Save the Children Fund since 1987 to £6,092.81."

Mr Palmer added: "Oh - and the name of the bear is Stephen! And the lucky namer was Ellie Shaw."
