THOUSANDS of women have taken to social media to speak out about their fears for their safety in the wake of the tragic news of Sarah Everard.

A massive search was launched for the 33-year-old, who went missing while walking home in London.

Police confirmed that human remains found in woodland in Kent were those of Sarah Everard on March 12.

A Metropolitan Police officer has been arrested on suspicion of her murder and remains in custody.

The events since Ms Everard’s disappearance have prompted an outpouring of shock and anger as women across the country shared their own experiences of feeling unsafe.

A vigil was due to take place at Clapham Common bandstand in south London on Saturday – but organisers are now seeking legal action after claiming the Metropolitan Police reversed their position on allowing the event to go ahead.
