LEDBURY is bucking a local trend when it comes to Covid cases, by showing a small rise in infections, when numbers are falling elsewhere.

Latest statistics from the Government's interactive map show there were nine cases in Ledbury in the seven days to March 9, a rise of two on the previous week.

But in neighbouring areas, the situation is more encouraging.

The Colwall, Cradley and Wellington Heath zone was in the "suppressed" category, which means that fewer than three cases were reported.

The Fownhope, Tarrington and Marcle area was also in the suppressed category, as was the Dymock, Hartpury and Huntley zone where cases have tended to be relatively high.

Even the neighbouring market town of Newent was in the suppressed category, in the week to March 9.

The coronavirus death toll has risen at Hereford Hospital, with one person dying there on March 11.
