ONE Herefordshire gym will not be able to reopen later this month despite easing coronavirus restrictions meaning others in the county can.
The Bromyard Centre, run by Halo Leisure, has been closed since the first coronavirus lockdown in March 2020 due to roof damage – and there’s been another delay.
The centre did not reopen in July 25 when other gyms in the county did, but bosses said they were planning to reopen the site in Bromyard in August – but that was pushed back due to “substantial vandalism”.
And now the reopening has been pushed back again.
In a written report to Bromyard and Winslow Town Council for its full meeting on Monday, Nigel Shaw said the end of May was now a target for Halo Leisure.
He said the delay is because the fire alarm system now needs to be replaced, an unforeseen job, and the cost will fall to Herefordshire Council as it owns the building.
According the Government’s roadmap out of the coronavirus lockdown, gyms should be able to reopen in England from April 12 at the earliest.
