FIREFIGHTERS were called to farmland in Bromley Cross last night – a site which has been plagued by blazes started deliberately.

Three fire engines were sent to the location near Birtenshaw School at around 10.30pm where the crews found flames from a camping blaze in a polytunnel.

Hose reels were used to extinguish the fire with firefighters in attendance for around half an hour.

Bolton North Fire Station crew manager Pete Wilmot said firefighters have been repeatedly sent to the same area to put out fires with youths thought to be behind the incidents.

The fire service was only called to put out a blaze there two days before on Wednesday, Mr Wilmot said.
