Welcome to the launch of the Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards 2021.

This is the fourth year we have run the awards – with the last 18 months in which we’ve lived under the shadow of coronavirus emphasising more than ever before just how much society relies on the dedicated people who take care of the most vulnerable in our communities.

The Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards were born when some leading people in the local care sector told us that it – and, more importantly, the people in it – did not get the recognition they deserved.

So in 2018, the Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards were launched, enthusiastically backed by a range of organisations, including headline sponsors the University of Worcester.

The awards showcase the fantastic work being done by carers for private firms, public bodies or in the voluntary sector. They show what caring is all about.

NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN!

Last year was bigger and better. More entries, more supporters, more awareness, and more people watching the glitzy presentation evening.

At a time when there are real concerns about the huge pressure that Britain’s entire social care sector is under, the awards stand out as a beacon of positivity.

Don’t ask us, ask the people on the front line. They continue to support the event because not only does it showcase what they do as organisations, it really does make a big difference to staff. It’s not a glamorous industry.

Ledbury Reporter:

The hard work and emotional strain on support workers and carers is huge. Having a high-profile event to say ‘thank you’ for their wonderful work is important.

On these pages you can find details of the award categories and guidance on how to make a nomination. The nomination process is easy – all you need to do is visit our website: www.herefordtimes.com/healthandsocialcare where you will find a simple form to fill in.

Care hero

Do you know a care worker who has worked hard to enable someone to live an independent, safe and fulfilled life? Have they helped to change someone’s life for the better?

It is these everyday stories about how our care workers make a difference (big or small) that the judges want to hear.
