A pre-school in Ledbury has been nominated for a prestigious award.

Busy Bees has been shortlisted for the pre-school of the year prize at the Nursery World Awards.

The centre, on Bye Street, will face tough competition from four other pre-schools from across the country.

The annual awards shine a light on the best practices and raise the profile of the entire early learning and childcare sector.

A panel of judges that is representative of the diversity of organisations that make up the sector will make the final decision, taking into account each entries resources and budget.

A spokesman of Nursery World magazine said: “This year, more than ever, the sector has been massively challenged through the COVID pandemic. However, through all the challenges that face them, dedicated professionals continue to improve their skills and qualifications and do a fantastic job for young children.

“Everyone in the early years sector deserves an award after the challenges and stresses of the past year. Nursery World magazine views all in early years as heroes for the way they have responded in the pandemic to the very best for young children and their families, often putting themselves at risk, and frequently without the support and recognition you deserve.

“Nursery World will continue to champion the need for higher status, better pay and more respect for early years practitioners and the vital role they play.”

The winner will be revealed on September 25 with a ceremony taking place in London at The Brewery.
