Burnley lad, Jordan North, has given local business a shout-out on social media after he descended oh his hometown yesterday.

Radio One DJ, Jordan North, returned to his Turf Moor “happy place” yesterday (22 July) as part of a Radio One breakfast segment.

He took fellow presenters, Greg James and Vick Hope to Turf Moor football stadium for the ‘Summer Break Out Challenge’.

During their stay, Greg James was on the hunt for some of the best places to eat- and turned to Jordan for some advice.

In a text exchange, Jordan gave one notable Burnley pizza place a shout-out.

He said “try Enzo’s- best pizza you’ll ever have pal.”

Enzo’s Pizza Takeaway, on Colne Road, were delighted at the shout out, thanking Jordan North for the recognition.

In a Facebook post, they said: “Thanks Jordan North and BBC Radio 1 make sure Greg James gets the best when he comes to Burnley!”

Nicolo Manta, who works at the takeaway said the team were "thrilled" to be recognised by the DJ.

He said: “He was at his Turf Moor ‘happy place’ this week- and by the sounds of it he considers Enzo's to be another one of his happy places.

“He’s a successful DJ for Radio One now- but it’s so good to know that he still remembers his roots.

“To recommend us to Greg James and the Twitter-verse- it’s absolutely fantastic recognition for us.”

It’s the second time North has given the business a shout-out on social media.

In his first post back in April, Jordan posted the following to social media: “Nothing is better than an Enzos!

“My auntie used to run the pub next door to there and we had it every weekend.”

Nicolo said some members of the team remember serving him.

He explained: “We’ve has this shop for 35 years- and my uncle remembers him and his auntie coming in regularly."

However, what is it about Enzo's that Jordan loves so much.

Nicolo said: “Enzos is a cornerstone of the community and a staple of the town.

“We’ve always prided ourselves on buying the highest quality ingredients  and we ensure that customers get great value for money.”

The takeaway has been nominated for a 2021 good food award for Best Takeaway

In his Twitter post, Jordan also asked “Burnley folk” to list some of their favourite eateries for Greg James to consider- and the tweet was flooded with nearly 200 comments.

One person said: “Sbarros is surprisingly good for pizza, or Burnley Oriental is the best Chinese.”

Another said: “Pronto’s or Enzo’s for takeaway.

“If he wants to go out though then try either Bertram’s or Wilfreds. Shimlas is pretty good too for Indian.”

Another wrote: “Yui’s Thai Kitchen on Padiham Road” and also recommended “Oddie’s” for breakfast.

Kaz said: “What about Banny’s drive through? Fish and chips twice, one for him and one for his driver and then Towneley to enjoy the view whilst they eat them.”
