Ledbury Town’s season got underway with a bang as they drew 5-5 with Ludlow Town Colts at New Street on Saturday September 11.

With their opening fixture cancelled due to a missing referee, Town fans were treated to a ten-goal thriller with Tom Boyle bagging a hat-trick.

Josh Burns and Ben Miller also got their names on the scoresheet for the hosts in the second half as the spoils were shared.

The draw sees Ledbury move up to sixth in the Herefordshire FA County League Premier Division with two sides still yet to get their campaigns started.

It took Boyle just 11 minutes to re-announce himself to the New Street faithful, scoring a delightful free kick on his return to the club.

The visitors equalised just after the half-hour mark through Jabez Smith, which saw the sides go into the break level.

A quick succession of goals within the first five minutes of the second half put Ledbury in the driving seat with Miller scoring a penalty before assisting Boyle for his second.

Ludlow were able to bounce back quickly however, Smith completing his brace with a penalty before Josh Williams levelled the scores with an hour played.

Not long after Ludlow took the lead for the first time, Corey Whitticase with the goal.

With 70 minutes played Burns brought the game level once again before the hosts regained the lead, Boyle completing his hat-trick.

However there was to be a final twist in the tale as Aaron Hodges rescued a point for Ludlow with his 82nd minute goal.

Ledbury came close to finding winner with Dwayne Tyndale having a goal disallowed before Miller’s penalty in the dying minutes was kept out.

Ledbury faced Welland at home last night and will travel to Broomy Hill to take on rivals Hinton this Saturday, a 2:30pm kick-off.

Elsewhere, Ledbury Town Reserves earned a 1-0 victory against the Civil Service side at Victoria Park, thanks to a volleyed goal from Tom Skittery in the first half.
