LEDBURY’S Market Theatre has teamed up with the Courtyard Hereford to launch a new youth theatre for the town.

Two weekly groups will be held at the theatre on Mondays, starting from September 20.

They are Intermediates, for youngsters aged from seven to nine, from 7.30-8.30pm, and then Seniors, for those aged 10 and above, from 8.30-9.30pm.

For further information, email takepart@courtyard.org.uk or call 01432 346526.

In the meantime the theatre will host the Moscow Drug Club tomorrow evening (Saturday, September 18). The band will be playing from 7.30pm and tickets are £14 for adults and £12 for students.

Tickets must be pre-booked at themarkettheatre.com or by calling 07967 517125.

And for the older actors:

OPEN auditions have been announced for the Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society’s new year play The Great Santa Kidnap at the Market Theatre.

The auditions will be held from 5pm on Sunday, September 26, to fill all the roles. These include Santa’s Forebrownie Fergus, the heroine Anna, various Goblins, an Owl, an elderly rabbit and, of course, the man in red himself. All of the roles are for adults.

A statement from LADS reads: “In view of continuing issues with the coronavirus pandemic, LADS is not attempting a full-scale pantomime in January 2022. Instead we are planning a Christmas-related play — not a panto.”

Six likely performance dates have been pencilled in between January 13-22.
