A PUB near Bromyard has been named as one of the most cosiest pubs in the UK.

With its roaring real fire, homecooked food and brewery on site, the Talbot at Knightwick is one of the most popular pubs in the area.

Now food critic Tom Parker Bowles has, in the Mail Plus, named the inn on the Bromyard Road as one of the 100 cosiest pubs in the UK.

The criteria for a cosy pub were a "roaring fire, comfy nooks to dwell in, ideally dogs welcome, great grub and a carefully chosen gathering of ales and wines".

His top choice to eat while at the Talbot is the muntjac game burger, pulled pork bean stew and vegetarian sauerkraut.

Not only is it a favourite with Parker Bowles but Kit Harington (star of TV's Game of Thrones) called the Talbot, where he used to work, the "best pub in the world".

Ledbury Reporter:

The Clift family have owned the grade-II listed pub for more than 35 years.

Based on-site is the Teme Valley Brewery, as well as a bakery and kitchen garden.

There are popular monthly farmer's markets as well as rooms for those wishing to stay overnight.

Dishes are cooked using seasonal produce from the Teme Valley region of Worcestershire and the kitchen makes and grows nearly everything that goes into its pub food.

The traditional coaching inn, which is in a village setting off the A44 Bromyard-Worcester road, is just over the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border.

It has previously been awarded Worcestershire's dining pub of the year by The Good Food Guide.

There are no Herefordshire pubs in the Mail Plus cosiest pubs list.
