HEREFORDSHIRE Council is offering grants of up to £40,000 to organisers of annual events and festivals that have been affected by pandemic restrictions.

Events that have previously attracted more than 500 people and are looking to return within the next 15 months can apply for funding.

Grant payments of £5,000 are available for events that have 500-1000 attendees; £10,000 for 1,001-5,000 attendees or up to £40,000 for more than 5,000 attendees.

Councillor Ellie Chowns said: “Many of us have missed spending time at events and festivals in the county, which often celebrate local produce, music and creativity.

“They can be an important part of the annual calendar for local communities, bringing people together from across Herefordshire and beyond.

“They contribute significantly to our local and visitor economy and we must provide the support that is much needed for these events to go ahead in the future.”

The deadline for applications is Monday, November 1. For details, visit herefordshire.gov.uk/discretionarygrant.
