VENUES in and around Ledbury and Bromyard are preparing to conjure up some spine-tingling Halloween fun for people of all ages this weekend.

Here are just a few of the events taking place across the area in the run-up to Halloween on Sunday.

Ralph Court Gardens

Halloween at Ralph Court runs until Sunday at the venue in Edwyn Ralph, near Bromyard. Daytime activities take place between 10am to 5pm, with the evening's events between 6-8.30pm. The event brings together a haunted house, clown zone, alien experience and light show. Details at ralphcourtgardens.co.uk.

Folklore at the Nest

The Nest, at Little Verzons Farm in Ledbury, has a few events on to mark Halloween. Forest Folklore takes place daily until October 31 from 10am to 3pm. People are invited to take a walk through eerie woodland and find spooky stories hanging from trees. For £5, visitors can carve a pumpkin, leave the mess behind and take their handiwork home.

Ledbury Ghost Walk

The ghost walk in Ledbury will take place from 7-9pm on Sunday. The event is not suitable for very young children and any child attending must be accompanied by an adult. Ticket for adults are £9, while tickets for 10 to 15 year olds are £4.50. Meet at the Market House.

Village hall fundraiser

Brooms Green Village hall will host a children’s party in aid of Rocky-Lee’s Little Feet baby loss charity. The event includes two sessions — one for infants from 4-5.30pm and then for juniors from 5-6.30pm. Magic workshop

The Corner House Café in Ledbury is hosting a magic workshop for children aged five to 11 from 4-6pm tomorrow (Saturday). Tickets at £10 include a snack and a drink. Call 01531 635752 for details.

For the grown ups

The Retreat on Ledbury High Street is hosting a Halloween Party tomorrow night, with a live performance by the Forefits, spooky drinks deals and a £25 bar tab for best fancy dress. The free event runs from 8pm until late.

Halloween alternative

St Michael’s Parish Church in Ledbury is holding a Community Light Party from 4-6pm on Sunday. Described as a “light-filled child-friendly alternative to Halloween”, the event will feature crafts and games, a treasure hunt and refreshments. Children must be accompanied by an adult and are asked to wear bright clothes — no spooky costumes allowed!
