HARD-WORKING supporters of Sustainable Ledbury were lent a hand by Balfour Beatty volunteers when they continued their restoration of the Town Trail.

The work — now in its third week — is part of a programme of practical environmental action launched by the town council this month. Other groups involved include Ledbury Naturalists, Garden Organic and the Repair Café.

Sharing photos of their latest work party, volunteer Nina Shields wrote: “We had another good session on the Town Trail. We had some extra help from three wonderful Balfour Beatty volunteers.”

“For the first time we had to think seriously about ivy growing up trees. We try to get the balance right — cutting back enough so that the tree thrives, but leaving enough to support wildlife.

“If we continue to make good progress, it won't be long before we can think about planting woodland flowers and shrubs.”

The team will be back at work on Monday from 10.30am. To get involved, email sustainableledbury@gmail.com or turn up on the day.
