AN arrest was made when police carried out an operations in a Herefordshire town.

The Leominster Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) carried out Operation Jetwing on Friday, November 26, working closely with the rural crime team and licensing officers.

West Mercia Police said the operation resulted in the arrest of a person wanted on warrant.

Officers conducted speed enforcement on Mill Street, Hereford Road and Worcester Road, where they gave advice to seven drivers about their speed.

A community surgery was held at The Grange, where members of the public came and spoke to police about issues in their neighbourhood.

Licensing officers visited shops and pubs in the town to conduct checks, while the rural crime team delivered a presentation about new schemes it can offer for crime prevention.

The SNT also conducted reassurance foot patrols in and around the town centre and schools.

PC Tom Phillips said: “The day was a great success, speaking to lots of local people and it was fantastic to hear what they all had to say.

"The community clearly enjoy engaging with us and appreciate all the work we do."
