A drunk man who resisted arrest at a park in Ledbury must complete 150 hours of community service.
Daniels Kalva, 19, of Bridge Street, Ledbury, was given a community order at Hereford Magistrates court yesterday following an incident at Ledbury Recreation Ground.
West Mercia Police have said that on Friday, October 1, a drunk and disorderly Kalva resisted arrest, leading to an altercation which left the police officer with a “laceration to his nose and a black eye”.
Kalva was later arrested and, following investigations, charged with assault with intent to resist arrest.
He has now pleaded guilty and been ordered to undertake 150 hours of unpaid work alongside having to pay £280 in costs and victim surcharges.
West Mercia Police Safer Neighbourhood Team inspector, James Ashton, said: “We are aware of community concerns around anti-social behaviour in the local area so are pleased that we have been able to secure a conviction in this case.
"We hope that this helps to send the message that we will not tolerate anti-social behaviour in our communities and will take action where necessary.”
