A 23-year-old Newent man caught in a Gloucester car park with the intention of interfering with vehicles has been jailed for 16 weeks.

Tommie Lee Jennings of St Bartholemew's, Newent, committed the offence at the Barge Car Park in the city on December 21 when he was subject to a suspended sentence for an earlier offence, Cheltenham Magistrates heard.

Jennings pleaded guilty to being found in an enclosed area for an unlawful purpose and was sentenced to four weeks' imprisonment.

The 12-week suspended sentence he had received last September for an offence of breaching a restraining order by going to an address in Wilton, Herefordshire, was implemented in full.

He was also ordered to pay a £128 victim services surcharge.

Appearing with Jennings was Paul Sly, 42, of no fixed address, who admitted the same charge and also accepted that he had breached a suspended sentence. He, too, was jailed for a total of 16 weeks and ordered to pay a £128 surcharge.
