A popular Ledbury event will take place this year, but a little later than originally planned.

The Ledbury Big Breakfast is an annual event that showcases the best of local produce and encourages people to enjoy breakfast together.

It was scheduled to take place at the end of January, but with Covid cases rising throughout Herefordshire, organisers Ledbury Food Group have decided to postpone the event.

The Big Breakfast will now take place over the weekend of Friday, March 11 to Sunday, March 13.

In an update on Ledbury Food Group’s website, Griff Holiday said: “We have taken this decision because of the high number of Covid cases locally.

“We want people to be confident to go out for a special breakfast, and for our venues to be confident that customers will turn out for this special event. Hopefully this postponement will allow things to settle down.”

Five new venues in the centre of Ledbury will be taking part in the Big Breakfast this year - Pot and Page, The Corner Cafe, The Sunrise Cafe, The Ledberry and Janey’s.

They join traditional supporters of the event The Feathers, The Talbot, The Malt House Gallery, The Market House Cafe, The Organic Cafe and the Seven Stars. Outside of the town, The Nest, Trumpet Corner and The Scrumpy House Restaurant at Westons Cider will also be taking part.

The Ledbury Big Breakfast looked a little different last year as it took place during lockdown.

With pubs, hotels and cafes closed, participants were asked to visit local butchers and greengrocers and create their own breakfasts at home.

For anyone wishing to do the same again this year, Ledbury Food Group has suggested Wallers and Gurneys butchers, Handley Organics, Ceci Paolo and the weekly country market as great places to buy local produce.

Full details of the 2022 Big Breakfast will be available in late February.
