ONE of Malvern's most prestigious schools has opened its 10th international offshoot.

Malvern College announced this week it had officially launched Malvern College Tokyo.

This is the 10th school under the Malvern College umbrella and its seventh overseas.

It is also the latest in a number of Asian schools set up including. Malvern College Chengdu, Malvern College Hong Kong and Malvern College Hong Kong Prep School.

Malvern College has locations in the UK, Qingdao, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Egypt and Switzerland.

Malvern College Tokyo will open in September 2023 will initially accommodate pupils from Years 1 to 9 in the neighbourhood of Kodaira, around 40 minutes from the centre of Tokyo.

This will extend upwards to Year 13 by 2026, ultimately providing 950 places for both primary and secondary pupils.

Headmaster of Malvern College UK, Keith Metcalfe said: “A Malvern education offers a strong academic focus that stimulates intellectual curiosity and encourages academic breadth beyond the confines of examination criteria.

"It also provides an extensive co-curricular programme which promotes all-round personal development and encourages a happy and healthy lifestyle.

"Importantly, our modern, holistic curriculum enables pupils to develop the necessary skills and personal qualities needed to make a positive impact on the world that they go out into.”

Subject to approval, the school intends to offer the International Baccalaureate at primary, middle years and secondary level.

"Malvern College UK is closely involved in setting standards and providing governance and oversight across the group, and although each of the schools has its own unique identity, all Malvern Schools share the same DNA.

"In 2021, we launched new online exchange programmes between our schools, where pupils in our Asian schools were engaged in a variety of entrepreneurial and experiential projects.

"The neighbourhood in Kodaira will provide Malvern College Tokyo with further unique and transformational educational opportunities for natural exploration, culture, arts, and sustainability projects."
