Our trader of the week this week is Louise Jane Perkins of Janey's.

What is your name? Louise “Jane” Perkins

What is the name and address of your business? Janey’s 15 The Homend Ledbury HR8 1BN

Are you the owner of Janey's? Yes

What do you sell / service provide? We are a non-chain, locally owned café selling an enviable variety of freshly ground quality coffees, teas, and speciality hot chocolates. For those with a sweet tooth, we have a deliciously tempting array of cakes and pastries including of course some gluten free options. Our traditional style English breakfasts provide a hearty start to the day and are available in a wide variety of possibilities including vegetarian, gluten free and lighter bite choices or, if you have particular likes and dislikes then feel free to create your own, and select as much or as little as you like from our enticing range. It’s all cooked fresh and on show in our large open kitchen. If you need to be on the move, all our range of foods are available for takeaway with the notable exception of our English breakfasts, (they are just too good to put into takeaway containers and we’d rather you stay and enjoy those how we intended, and so we can see the looks on your faces when you tuck in!), Our ever-popular sausage and bacon baps, bacon sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and more all transport well if you’ve not got time to stay and soak up the ambiance. Our breakfasts are available all day, but if you fancy something more traditional for lunch, we have many café style options such as our homemade soups and waffles and of course a range of sandwiches. Our ever changing daily and weekly specials, always provide something different, for example, this week’s special is our very tasty cottage style fishfinger sandwich.

We of course cater for your little ones too with plenty of space for prams and pushchairs and our bright well-appointed separate baby change area. There’s always something for us to spoil the little ones with too, from the traditional favourites like chicken nuggets, pizza and sausage roll to a sandwich selection where we are happy to make whatever your little ones will eat (if at all possible) We are parents of three ourselves and know the challenge of trying to feed the whole family whilst out and about especially when the little ones can have shall we say “particular tastes” so if your little one wants marmite and cheese, or jam and ketchup, we can help! They can always wash it down with one of our real ice cream milkshakes crowned with cream, sauces and of course the obligatory chocolate flake.

What is the best selling item at Janey's? Our Janey’s breakfast of course!

What is the strangest request you have had at Janey's? Not really had anything too odd yet, but catering to the tastes of children can always raise a smile.

What is the ethos of Janey's? We have tried to provide a space and menu that has something for everyone, sounds cliché but we wanted to provide a place that would have suited our own extended family needs whilst on a day out together which would regularly have included all ages from toddlers to seniors and their respective, (sometimes challenging) food and drink needs, hence why we have the range we do, and a can do attitude that’s needed in todays tough market.

Anything else you would like to add? We are delighted to have recently been awarded a full five stars in our first unannounced visit by the food standards agency for our food hygiene rating. We would also like to thank our amazing staff and those who have helped make it possible through their support and hard work, and of course, our wonderful customers for choosing us and brightening up our days.
