Ledbury TV star Melissa Johns has announced details of her one-woman show - and it’s coming to Herefordshire this summer.

Snatched, written and performed by the Grantchester and Coronation Street actor, will debut at the Lowry in Salford in May.

Melissa will then take the show on tour, with dates in London, Liverpool, Bolton, Newcastle, Guildford, Corsham and Cardiff before finishing at Hereford’s Courtyard Theatre on July 1.

The play has been developed alongside the Lowry and Arts Council England and was co-devised and is directed by Lily Levin.

In 2018, Melissa’s iCloud was hacked and explicit photos of her were released online.

Snatched tells the story of a young disabled woman with a history of body dysmorphia coming to terms with her body becoming public property.

The Lowry describes it as a “humorous and revealing show” which “displays no remorse in championing female sexuality”.

“Fighting body shaming and the taboo of sex and disability, Snatched is a fast-paced, uplifting one-woman show accompanied by a live 90s/00s soundtrack.”

Grantchester season 7 returns tonight

Melissa told the Ledbury Reporter last month that the Courtyard in Hereford, along with Ledbury’s Market Theatre, was among the venues where she fell in love with live theatre.

She is currently starring as Mistress Quickly in a West End production of Shakespeare’s Henry V, opposite Games of Thrones’ Kit Harrington in the title role.

A recording of Henry V is being shown at the Market Theatre on May 4 as part of the National Theatre Live programme of events.

Melissa is also back on our screens as the seventh season of Grantchester premieres at 9pm tonight (Friday March 11) on ITV.

She returns as Miss Scott alongside Robson Green as Detective Inspector Geordie Keating, Tom Brittany as Reverend Will Davenport and Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs Chapman.
