A HEREFORDSHIRE farmer has escaped a roads ban after he was caught speeding on a busy Hereford main road.

Paul Anthony Hale entered a guilty plea to magistrates in Worcester.

The court heard the 61-year-old had been caught breaking the limit behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi in a 30 miles per hour zone on the A465 Belmont Road, which is home to the county's only fixed speed camera, on August 6.

Hale, of Orcop, Herefordshire, was fined £146, received three penalty points, and must pay costs of £110 and a £34 victim surcharge.

No totting disqualification was made as losing his licence would mean that one of his farm sites would close, meaning part of the business would be lost, animal welfare would be affected, and there would be an impact of employee jobs.
