A rapidly expanding Hereford company has pledged its backing to one of the region’s biggest running events.

Hereford Contract Canning (HCC) is the new headline sponsor of RUN Hereford, the annual St Michael’s Hospice fundraiser attracting runners of all ages and abilities from across Herefordshire and beyond.

This year’s event, which takes place on Sunday May 8, has already attracted hundreds of sign-ups.

The event features a half marathon, 10K and 5K with each circular route beginning at Hereford’s Livestock Market on Roman Road.

“HCC are delighted to continue to support the Hospice as our chosen charity for 2022,” said Julian Aitken, Hereford Contract Canning’s CEO.

“We are proud to now sponsor RUN Hereford and are looking forward to a successful event for everyone who takes part and for our team.”

Hereford Contract Canning has already been supporting St Michael’s after staff nominated the Bartestree-based Hospice as its charity beneficiary.

In January, they handed over more than £2,600 to the Hospice following a raffle and donations made in memory of an employee who had been cared for by St Michael’s.

“We’re delighted to welcome on board Hereford Contract Canning (HCC),” said Simon Kershaw, the Hospice’s Events and Community Fundraising Executive.

“Their support will help ensure we can put on the most successful event possible, and we look forward to working with them to help make this year’s RUN Hereford the best yet.”

Each year, RUN Hereford raises tens of thousands of pounds for St Michael’s Hospice through entry fees, sponsorship and merchandise.

This money helps the Hospice continue providing care to families living with a terminal illness across our region.
