MULTIPLE fire crews have been called to battle a blaze in a house in Herefordshire.

Six fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, the incident command unit, environmental protection unit, incident support, the drone from Ledbury, and the water carrier from Leominster were among those called to tackle a roof fire in Ashperton, near Ledbury, yesterday (May 4).

A Ledbury fire service spokesperson said firefighters from the town were called to the fire, which had started in a chimney.

"Unfortunately it had spread to the roof space but the initial crew worked extremely hard and with the support of Fownhope fire station, Hereford fire station, Bromyard fire station, Ross fire station, Droitwich fire station, Leominster fire station, and Wyre Forest fire station it was contained to the roof saving much of the property," the spokesperson said.

"No casualties thankfully."
