A FESTIVAL on the Herefordshire border will be hosting the new viral video app TikTok in the hope it will reach a wider audience.
Hay Festival is returning in person for the first time in two years this spring with a list of big names ready to hold events.
It will run from May 26 to June 5 with its bookshop full of published literary from the celebrities in the line-up.
This year, in the hope it will draw in a wider audience, the festival will be hosting representatives from TikTok.
The social media app beat Google to become the most popular website for 2021, according to IT security company, Cloudflare.
Tiktokers from the ‘Booktok’ community, which sees people with 1000s of followers review books, will also be visiting the festival.
This is to draw in more young people, reach a wider audience and show that Hay Festival is back in person after two years, said communications coordinator for Hay Festival Elle Adams.
English comedian, actor, director, writer, and broadcaster Stephen Fry is the festival president of Hay Festival and will be performing an act of his own this year.
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch is also among the famous faces due to make an appearance, alongside Hilary Clinton – whose event is sold out – and Nicola Sturgeon.
