Police are searching for a motorist who fled the scene of a head-on car crash in Malvern. 

Officers were called at 6.55am this morning (Monday, May 9) following a collision on Abbey Road between a green Ford Kuga and a grey Ford Fiesta.

The Ford Kuga was travelling in the direction of Welland and the Ford Fiesta was travelling towards Malvern when they collided head-on.

The driver of the Ford Kuga fled the scene on foot and officers are carrying out thorough searches of the area to locate him. He is described as a white male, aged late 20s to early 30s, medium build and wearing shorts and a beige t-shirt.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 42-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and has been transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by ambulance.

A 28-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in relation to the incident.

Officers remain in attendance and Wells Road is still closed between the junction of Abbey Road and Peachfield Road. Road closures are likely to remain in place for some time while investigations continue.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision or have dash-cam footage of it. They would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the man fleeing the scene or know of his whereabouts.
