A local goalkeeper has been signed by Football League side Swindon Town for next season.
Jack Copland, who helps run the Ledbury Goalkeeping Academy, has been with the League Town side on a temporary basis of late but Swindon have decided to sign him on for the 2022/23 campaign.
Allan Hawkins, who runs the academy, said: "It's a fabulous opportunity for Jack to further establish himself as a professional goalkeeper.
"I’ve got to say, they get one of the most exciting new prospects around.
"Jack is also currently assisting me with coaching our Ledbury GK squad so the disappointment will be losing him next season but who cares!"
Copland has been playing in Spain since the age of 9 at Denia and returned to the UK with his family just 18 months ago.
In that time, he's been doing 1:1 sessions and trying to open some doors at various clubs which hasnt been easy as he’s been out of the UK academy system.
However trials at Chelsea and training at Coventry as well as senior Hellenic League football have kept him busy.
And now he gets his big break.
Swindon Town are currently in the play-offs to gain promotion out of League Town and into League One for next season.
